Verifile finalists for prestigious technology award

We are delighted to be finalists in the “Outstanding Use of Technology” category in this year’s Investors in People (IIP) awards.

As the organisation that sets the benchmark for best practice and continuous improvement in HR and people management, being recognised by Investors in People for our use of technology is something we’re incredibly proud of.

Technology is crucial to us, helping us be transparent, accurate and consistent in everything we do for our clients. Since 2008, when we first started using our own in-house screening software, we’ve continually improved and invested in our technology platforms – to the point where we now invest 10% of our turnover into research and development each year.

This technology is what helps our people to access data efficiently from around the world and to process it effectively and accurately. Technology also drives our client experience, providing the tools to place orders, track progress and access results, as well as our candidate experience, giving access to an intuitive and interactive platform where they can provide all the information required to process the required background checks.

In recent times, this investment in technology has led to us developing our own Application Programming Interface (API), allowing clients to integrate their systems directly with ours, providing instant access to hundreds of background checks from around the world. In shortlisting us for this award, IIP stated that it recognised both the importance of technology to our business and our clients but also the changes and innovations we’ve been able to deliver.

IIP continued: “The Investors in People Awards 2019 has been our biggest and most competitive year to date. These are the companies really getting it right. The ones we’re all learning from. The ones with new ideas. Verifile has been named as a global leader in how they support their people to do their best work and go home feeling happier, healthier and stronger.”

All eyes now turn to the awards ceremony on November 19th to see whether we can take home the main prize. With seven other companies also shortlisted, the competition will no doubt be tough but we’re so proud to be in with a chance of scooping this prestigious award.

Proposed reduction to DBS fees

In July 2019, the DBS laid secondary legislation before Parliament to reduce their fees with effect from 1 October 2019.

The key changes are as follows:

Type of DBS check

Current fee

Fee from 1 October 2019

Basic DBS check

£25.00

£23.00

Standard DBS check

£26.00

£23.00

Enhanced DBS check

£44.00

£40.00

We are already working on plans to reduce our charges by the same amount once the DBS fee reduction is approved by Parliament. The reduced fee will apply to all new orders placed on and after 1st October (if this is the date confirmed by Parliament).

Standard and enhanced checks for volunteers will continue to be provided free by DBS; so there will be no change to the Verifile charge.

For any clients using the Update Service directly with DBS, the fee of £13 will remain the same.

DBS will publish this information on www.gov.uk/dbs in advance.

We’ll update you once Parliament has approved the fee reduction so you know what to expect in October. We are, of course, hopeful that Parliament will approve the fee reduction bill.
