India's employment outlook

Reports point out to a slowdown in India's employment outlook.

New analysis highlights how employment has been on a downward spiral after starting off well in 2016. The situation is signaling worrying signs for the country. And large numbers of people are still unemployed.

According to the International Labour Organization, the number of unemployed in India is expected to increase by 1 lakh in 2017, and an additional 2 lakh in 2018. Yet, a recent report in the Indian Express noted that less than one tenth of the 30.67 lakh youth who had received or were undergoing training under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) have obtained job placement offers. Whether it is because they aren 't employable enough, or it is simply a case of not enough jobs in the market - the issue requires immediate attention.
