What does it check?

We'll check to confirm whether a Lithuanian identity document is known to the authorities as being stolen, lost, expired, or invalid. The integrity of every background check relies on correctly identifying the individual and mostly this is done by examining government-issued identity documents. If an individual is using real documents but those that were stolen from another person, the background check may be successful but fail to alter that the individual might be impersonating someone else. For this purpose, Lithuania offers us the option of checking if an identification document it issued may have been reported as lost, stolen or invalid. If the result of the check confirms that the document is known to the authorities as lost, stolen or invalid, the date of reporting the loss or theft and the date of invalidity in other cases will be provided. This check covers the following documents: • identity card or Asmens tapatybės kortelė • passport or Pasas • sailor’s passport or Jūreivio pasas • travel document or Kelionės dokumentas • residence permit or Leidimas gyventi • refugee travel document or Pabėgėlio kelionės dokumentas
