Lost or stolen identity documents search

We'll check to confirm whether a Latvian identity document is known to the authorities as being stolen, lost, expired, or invalid. The integrity of every background check relies on correctly identifying the individual and mostly this is done by examining government-issued identity documents. If an individual is using real documents but those that were stolen from another person, the background check may be successful but fail to alter that the individual might be impersonating someone else. For this purpose, Latvia offers us the option of checking if an identification document it issued may have been reported as lost, missing, stolen, destroyed or otherwise marked as cancelled and unfit for use by the competent authority for a variety of other reasons. Data have been stored in the Register since 1998.
