What does it check?
The Standard level check (for individuals in Scotland) provides details on all unspent and spent convictions, police cautions and information about whether an applicant is subject to notification requirements under the Sex Offenders Register.
This check is available only for certain job roles, duties, positions and licences, as outlined in the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 amendment orders. The 2010 orders have replaced sections of the 2003 order so these pieces of legislation should be read together. It is not simply the case that all positions listed in the 2003 order are still eligible for Standard disclosure.
