National Origin Protections in the Workplace now Expanded in California

Changes to the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA) were announced in California in late May, increasing the protection offered to applicants and employees on the basis of national origin.

A more holistic veiw of "national origin" will be taken, and discriminiation on this basis has been amended to include English-only policies, for example.

Retaliation protection against an employee for opposing discrimination or harrassment has also been clarified.
