Target Reaches Settlement Over Asking Job Applicants About Criminal Records

Target pays out $3.74 million in a class-action suit over allegations it discriminated against African Americans and Latinos by asking job applicants about out-of-date criminal history that wasn't relavent to the roles applied for, thereby adversely affecting these people groups.

Hiring practises have now been revised such that criminal history is only enquired about in the final stages of recruitment, and applicants given chance to explain any convictions.
