What does it check?

This service assists an individual in obtaining their French Driver Abstract as well as validates it.

In France, an official extract of the driving licence records can be requested only by the individual and not by a third party (Subject Access Request). We'll guide and assist the individual in making a Subject Access Request (SAR) for the certificate and then validate it. This check will confirm that an individual holds a valid driver’s licence and the current balance of points recorded against the licence. In France, drivers do not accumulate points, which is the system in countries like the United Kingdom, but lose points. When the balance of points reaches zero, the licence is invalidated. Under French law, local French employers and insurance companies should not take into account the points balance when making hiring decisions or when deciding to review the insurance premiums. The following are the number of points a driver loses for each of the offences: Driving under the influence of alcohol with a rate equal to or greater than 0.25 mg of alcohol per litre of exhaled air or 0.50 g per litre of blood 6 Speeding of 50 km/hour or more 6 Priority refusal 4 Failure to stop at a red light 4 Non-compliance with a stop sign 4 Prohibited traffic 4 Reverse or U-turn on the highway 4 Driving without lights at night or when visibility is low 4 Speeding = 40 and <50 4 Speeding = 30 and <40 3 Failure to respect the safety distance between two vehicles 3 Left-hand traffic on a two-way carriageway 3 Dangerous overtaking 3 Change of direction without warning (flashing) 3 Continuous line crossing 3 Failure to wear a helmet (unless the vehicle is fitted with a seat belt) 3 Seat belt failure 3 Dangerous stop or parking 3 Stop or park at night or in insufficient visibility without lighting 3 Use of a hand-held telephone device by the driver of a vehicle in circulation 3 Driving on the emergency lane 3 Acceleration per driver about to be exceeded 2 Traffic on the central separating highway strip 2 Stop or parking on a central expressway strip 2 Transport, detention, use of apparatus intended to detect or disturb radar checks 2 Speeding <20 1 Continuous line overlap 1
