What does it check?

We'll check to confirm whether an individual's identity document is known to the authorities as being stolen, lost, expired, invalid or never issued.

We'll check to confirm whether a Belgian identity document is known to the authorities as being stolen, lost, expired, invalid or never issued. The integrity of every background check relies on correctly identifying the individual and mostly this is done by examining government-issued identity documents. If an individual is using real documents but those that were stolen from another person, the background check may be successful but fail to alter that the individual might be impersonating someone else. For this purpose, Belgium offers us the option of checking if an identification document it issued may have been reported as stolen, lost, expired, or invalid or that the document has not been issued yet. If a document is not listed on this database, it means that it has been issued by a Belgian administrative authority. This check covers the following documents: • identity card or Carte d'identité • passport or Passeport • residence permit or Titre de Séjour • travel document or Titre de Voyage
