What does it check?

This service assists an individual in obtaining their Austrian Criminal Record Certificate as well as validates it.

This check provides what is referred to as Criminal Record Certificate or Strafregisterbescheinigung. In Austria, the Criminal Record Certificate can be requested only by the individual and not by a third party (Subject Access Request). We'll guide and assist the individual in making a Subject Access Request (SAR) for the certificate and then validate it. Austrian criminal record certificates come in two types: The normal certificate which this check provides and the special Criminal Record Certificate for Children and Youth Welfare Purposes. In Austria, many roles and professions (e.g. admission to a security company) require a current criminal record certificate. In most cases, the certificate must not be older than three months. The normal Criminal Record Certificate (Strafregisterbescheinigung) contains all convictions and their notification regarding enforcement measures etc. which were notified to the register by: • Austrian judicial authorities; • Foreign judicial authorities; and • Foreign convictions based on international agreements The special Criminal Record Certificate for Children and Youth Welfare Purposes contains only convictions for a criminal offence against sexual integrity and self-determination, as well as: • Prohibitions of activity; • Orders of judicial supervision; and • Instructions in accordance with this context
