California becomes the first state to follow in the footsteps of GDPR

The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) was brought into law in June 2018 by Governor Jerry Brown. Companies both inside and outside of the US will be affected by its requirements which come into force on July 1, 2020.

It is unlikely that compliance with GDPR will definitely result in compliance under the CPPA, which includes data on any resident of California, even if a business has no physical prescence in the State.
